About Me

Wild Bill Reborn

It all started when I was around 12 years old in the late 1970s. My father surprised me with a brand-new pair of cowboy boots and a really nice cowboy hat. For a kid growing up in Pennsylvania, that felt pretty special. Something about wearing that hat and boots got my imagination going. I started thinking about the old cowboys of the Wild West and the adventurous lives they lived.

One name that kept popping up in my reading was Wild Bill Hickok. His story fascinated me—the gunslinger, the scout, the gambler, and the larger-than-life character who seemed to embody the spirit of the Old West.

Then one day I discovered something that made the story feel a little more personal. I was researching my oldest brother’s birthday and learned that he was born on August 2nd—the exact same day that Wild Bill Hickok was killed in the famous shooting in Deadwood, South Dakota in 1876. That little coincidence stuck with me over the years.

That’s one of the reasons I call this site Wild Bill Reborn. I don’t mean that literally, of course, but I do feel like I carry on some of that adventurous spirit. The love of wide-open spaces, the thrill of discovery, and the excitement of searching for treasure are things I’ve always enjoyed.

At one point I even traveled out west to visit Deadwood, South Dakota myself. I stood at the grave of Wild Bill Hickok and spent some time walking around the town. Of course, I couldn’t resist trying my luck at gambling while I was there. Being in a place with so much Old West history really brought the stories to life.

Over the years I’ve always loved searching for treasures of all kinds. One of my favorite things to collect is old silver coins. There’s something about holding a coin that might have passed through hundreds of hands decades—or even a century—ago.

I also had the chance to visit South Pass City, Wyoming, where I learned how prospectors searched for gold during the frontier days. It gave me a real appreciation for the determination those miners had when they were chasing their dreams.

I never did strike it rich looking for gold out west, but in a way I still feel like I’m mining for gold today.

These days my treasure hunts happen a little closer to home. I love going to yard sales and flea markets looking for hidden gems. You never know what you might find if you look closely enough.

I also collect Hot Wheels cars and always keep an eye out for rare ones. There’s always that hope that one day I’ll come across a truly special find. Along the way I’m also searching for rare coins, vintage collectibles, and interesting items like old-style timepieces.

To me, that’s the modern version of prospecting. Instead of digging in the ground for gold, I’m digging through boxes at yard sales or scanning flea market tables looking for that hidden treasure.

So in a way, the spirit of Wild Bill Hickok lives on here—not literally, but in the sense of adventure, curiosity, and the thrill of the hunt.

That’s what Wild Bill Reborn is all about.

I hope you enjoy exploring the site and maybe even discovering a few treasures of your own along the way.
